Pentaloc 40 mg Tablet works by blocking the action of a gastric proton pump enzyme, leading to a reduction in stomach acid production. This enzyme is found in the cells of the stomach wall and is responsible for the secretion of gastric acid, which can cause damage to the duodenum, stomach, and esophagus. These tablets are also effective in relieving symptoms of heartburn, GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), and inflammation of the esophageal lining.

Usage Instructions

  • Allergic Individuals: Individuals with allergies should refrain from using Pentaloc 40 mg.
  • Age Restriction: Do not administer this tablet to children under the age of five years.
  • Long-term Use: If considering long-term use of this tablet, exercise caution as it may deplete magnesium levels in your body.

How to Use

  • Take Pentaloc 40 mg Tablet in the morning for optimal results.
  • Consume the tablet approximately 1 hour after a meal.
  • Alternatively, you can take one tablet in the morning and another in the evening.
  • Your physician may recommend a two-week course if improvements are observed.
  • For usage beyond four weeks, please consult your physician.

Precautions

  • Pentaloc 40 mg is not recommended during pregnancy.
  • Some medications may interact with this tablet, increasing the risk of unwanted side effects. Consult your doctor if you are using other medications, including digoxin, HIV medicines, itraconazole, rifampicin, methotrexate, Posaconazole, clopidogrel, voriconazole, and warfarin.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Pentaloc 40 mg Tablet may include nausea, abdominal pain, headache, diarrhea, vomiting, joint pain, and dizziness. These side effects often subside over time. Prolonged use (over a year) may increase the risk of bone fractures. Additional side effects can include a sore throat, extreme fatigue, red tongue, tingling sensations, and mouth ulcers.
